Before You Enter Data Store Alpha
The blue fog inside ATOMFALL data store alpha can kill you before you reach the generator. Restoring its power matters because this infected section of the Interchange stands between you and progress toward Oberon. To complete ATOMFALL data store alpha, you need an Atomic Battery, access to the wing, and enough infection protection to survive the trip to the battery socket.
The challenge has two separate parts: getting the entrance working and powering the generator inside the contaminated room. An accessible door does not mean the Data Store itself is powered.
This walkthrough draws on Gameranx’s Data Store Alpha power restoration guide and a player video demonstrating the route and battery installation. Details specific to the video are labeled as player experience.
For official information about Rebellion’s survival-action game, visit the Atomfall Steam store page.
Before heading underground, check what your current attempt requires:
| Item or preparation | Purpose | When it applies |
|---|---|---|
| Atomic Battery for Alpha | Powers the generator inside the infected room | Required to restore Data Store Alpha |
| Atomic Battery for the Central Processor | Powers the processor in the player video’s route | If the processor is still unpowered |
| Strange Tonic | Temporarily improves infection resistance and also cures infection | Before crossing the blue fog |
| Strange Tonic recipe | Lets you craft the tonic | If you choose crafting instead of trading |
| Blue Fingers perk | Allows you to harvest Spores used in tonic crafting | If gathering your own Spores |
A good approach is to resolve your tonic supply before entering the contaminated chamber. Finding the battery socket is only useful if you can survive long enough to interact with it.
How to Reach ATOMFALL data store alpha
You can access the Alpha wing through the Interchange entrances in Wyndham Village or Casterfell Woods. The useful distinction is your starting location: both routes lead into the underground facility, but their surface landmarks differ.

Wyndham Village entrance
In Wyndham Village, look for the power substation near the large church. Gameranx places the guarded area on the hill south of the Village Hall, at 33.4E, 79.3N.
Its guide describes approaching through the grassy field near the church, hopping the fence, and staying close to the rocky ledge to avoid guards on the way to the Interchange entrance.
The player video shows another approach around the same church and electric-fence landmarks. Player experience: the demonstrator follows stairs toward the entrance and passes a guard, noting that paths on either side can provide a way around him.
Treat these as route descriptions, not a guarantee that you can ignore the guarded area. A good approach is to identify the entrance and your path around the soldiers before committing to the climb.
Casterfell Woods entrance
If you are already in Casterfell Woods, the relevant Interchange entrance is near the Wyndham Village gate, at 27.6E, 83.6N.
Once inside the Alpha wing, Gameranx directs you to unlock the barred doors and locate the room filled with blue smoke. That contaminated room contains the generator you need.
| Starting area | Entrance coordinates | Surface landmark |
|---|---|---|
| Wyndham Village | 33.4E, 79.3N | Guarded substation near the church, south of the Village Hall |
| Casterfell Woods | 27.6E, 83.6N | Interchange entrance near the Wyndham Village gate |
Player experience: after entering from Wyndham Village, the video demonstrator takes the first left and crawls beneath a shutter. The Data Store Alpha entrance is ahead.
This interior direction belongs to the demonstrated Wyndham route. If you enter through Casterfell Woods, use the Alpha wing and blue-smoke room as your landmarks instead of assuming the same first turn applies.
Unlock the Door and Restore the Power
The ATOMFALL data store alpha entrance can be inaccessible because its power supply has not been established. That is a different problem from the infectious atmosphere beyond the door.
Image: Steam / Rebellion
Player experience: the video demonstrates following the connecting pathway to the Central Processor when Alpha’s entrance is unpowered. The demonstrator unlocks the connecting door, picks up an Atomic Battery from the ground in that area, and uses it to power the processor.
Afterward, the demonstrator returns to Alpha and enters through its now-powered door.
The practical takeaway is to keep the two battery uses separate. The battery installed in the Central Processor does not also power Alpha’s generator. If both systems are unpowered, the demonstrated sequence involves an installation at each location.
| Step | Action | Result or purpose |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Reach the Data Store Alpha entrance | Establish access to the correct wing |
| 2 | If its door is unpowered, follow the player video’s route to the Central Processor | Address the entrance’s power problem |
| 3 | Install an Atomic Battery in the processor if needed | Makes the Alpha entrance accessible in the demonstration |
| 4 | Return with an Atomic Battery available for Alpha | Prepares you for the separate generator installation |
| 5 | Take Strange Tonic before entering the fog | Improves your ability to survive infection exposure |
| 6 | Reach the generator and insert the battery | Restores Alpha’s power and clears the upper level |
Once you can enter, descend the stairs toward the contaminated chamber. Player experience: the video shows running straight along the catwalk to the battery installation point.
A good approach is to have your tonic and battery ready before starting that crossing. The blue clouds make time spent searching or hesitating costly.
Gameranx warns that an unprotected sprint can still end in death before you reach the generator. Plan around infection resistance rather than assuming movement speed alone will solve the room.
Get Strange Tonic and Prepare for Infection
For ATOMFALL data store alpha, Strange Tonic addresses the room’s central hazard: infection exposure. Gameranx describes it as both an infection cure and a temporary resistance buff.

Its resistance effect is the reason to take it before entering the blue fog. Waiting until the crossing is already going badly gives you less room to complete the battery installation.
Trade with Mother Jago
Mother Jago is at The Old Mine in Casterfell Woods, at 27.2E, 92.2N. Gameranx identifies her as a source from whom you can purchase Strange Tonic.
She also has an investigation involving her stolen book. If your immediate goal is powering Alpha, a good approach is to check her trading option before taking the longer route through recipe collection and perk preparation.
Find the Strange Tonic recipe
The recipe is in the Castle Ruins, in the southwestern part of Casterfell Woods.
Look for the library near the top of the ladder leading down into the castle’s sacrificial caves. Gameranx places both Mother Jago’s stolen book and the Strange Tonic recipe in this area.
Having the recipe gives you a crafting option, but it does not remove the need for ingredients. The guide specifically identifies Spores as a required material.
Unlock Blue Fingers for harvesting
Spores can be harvested from open purple flowers in heavily infected areas, provided you have the Blue Fingers perk.
Blue Fingers belongs to the Consumables Mastery Manual tree. Gameranx points to a manual inside the locked bedroom at the Wyndham Village Bakery.
To access that bedroom, collect the Bedroom Key from Wyndham Garage at 35.5E, 79.2N.
| Resource | Where to find it | Relevant requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Strange Tonic | Mother Jago at The Old Mine, 27.2E, 92.2N | Obtain it through trading |
| Strange Tonic recipe | Castle Ruins library near the ladder into the sacrificial caves | Collect the recipe for crafting |
| Spores | Open purple flowers in heavily infected areas | Blue Fingers is required to harvest them |
| Consumables Mastery Manual | Locked bedroom in Wyndham Village Bakery | Access the bedroom with its key |
| Bedroom Key | Wyndham Garage, 35.5E, 79.2N | Collect it to enter the bakery bedroom |
Optional protection described in the player video
Player experience: the demonstrator recommends Dr. Holder’s inoculation, describing it as a permanent infection-resistance buff that can be combined with Strange Tonic.
The reference video does not explain how to obtain that inoculation, so it is an optional preparation detail rather than a complete alternative walkthrough.
Player experience: the same video identifies two infected flowers along the crossing that explode when approached. The demonstrator suggests shooting them before passing to reduce the additional infection damage from those explosions.
Destroying those flowers does not mean the surrounding blue fog is harmless. A good approach is to treat flower removal as extra preparation alongside your tonic.
Complete ATOMFALL data store alpha and Check Remaining Hazards
With infection protection active and an Atomic Battery available, cross to the generator and insert the battery.
Gameranx reports that this opens the doors and clears the upper level of Data Store Alpha. However, the bottom level around the locked storeroom door remains contaminated.
That distinction matters when deciding whether to keep exploring. Restoring power resolves the generator objective, but it does not make every part of Alpha safe.
A good approach is to finish the installation, leave any remaining contaminated section, and assess your supplies before continuing. Gameranx also recommends keeping more Strange Tonic available for the later journey to the Power Plant.
If your ATOMFALL data store alpha attempt stalls, match the problem to the relevant preparation step:
| Problem | Detail supported by the references | Action to take |
|---|---|---|
| Alpha’s entrance is unpowered | The player video powers the Central Processor before returning | Check the processor stage in the demonstrated route |
| You reach Alpha without a usable battery | Alpha’s generator needs its own Atomic Battery | Bring a battery for the generator installation |
| Infection kills you during the crossing | Gameranx warns that sprinting alone may be insufficient | Obtain and take Strange Tonic before entering |
| You cannot harvest Spores | Harvesting requires Blue Fingers | Follow the manual and perk route described above |
| Gas remains after power restoration | The lower storeroom area stays contaminated | Continue treating that area as an infection hazard |
The objective is straightforward once those obstacles are separated: establish entrance power if necessary, prepare infection resistance, and install Alpha’s battery. Avoid turning a completed generator run into another dangerous excursion through the lower fog.
